Diamer Bhasha Dam in Pakistan
In Pakistan, there are plans to build a dam on the Indus River. These plans are called the Diamer Bhasha Dam project, and are projected to cost approximately $13 billion. This source of hydroelectric power could go a long way to advance the country. Major flooding has been causing problems in the country, especially in the regions of Azad, Gilgit-Baltistan, Jammu, Kashmir, and Punjab. There are significant benefits and costs as stake with this project. Redirecting the River Indus could take a toll on the country's environment, and even if the path of the river was not affected, the amount flowing through should also be considered.
